Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
