Young golfer preparing for significant tournament

The rising star has impressive social media presence

The young golfer will have multiple prominent backers as she makes her first LPGA appearance on Thursday.

The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be the granddaughter of a former US president, received a special exemption to play at the Annika competition in the Sunshine State.

The former president, a passionate golfer, owns numerous golf courses and regularly plays against his granddaughter.

"He's fairly competent. I can't say much but we play competitive games," she revealed.

Kai explained that her grandfather, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Simply stay calm."

"My grandpa essentially told me to go out there and enjoy myself," she added.

"From my perspective, he's simply a regular grandfather. He's not attending for the tournament. He's focused on running the country, making him rather occupied."

While still amateur, the golfer has competed in a mere three competitions this year and maintains the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.

Yet she's able to get advice from golf legend, who is dating her mother.

"He is the greatest golfer worldwide," Kai expressed.

"And he's a more impressive individual. He suggested me to go out there, relax, and go with whatever happens."

She'll challenge some of the biggest names in professional golf at the competition, featuring world number two Nelly Korda, England's golfer Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

The LPGA commented that Kai's presence helps introduce the sport to wider groups, particularly reaching the next generation.

The social media influencer has millions of followers and has started her own apparel and wellness brand.

Her first tee time at late afternoon GMT.
