The former Liverpool manager says a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, remarked that returning someday is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and as an advisor to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
The club claimed the league title last season, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the notion that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage another team within the country. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“Being 58, so the choice could be mine later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
When asked about the specific conditions must arise to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be in the rain through long matches; No need for media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“The locker room isn't missed in that context, yet sharing a meal with the team talking freely, I appreciate that. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits in the building. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him due to the changes that won the league last campaign. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest post heavy investment, though he denied the notion it could be the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
He shared movingly regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and the effect for the team. The Portugal international died tragically in a road accident with his brother this past summer.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the team environment missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. Not a single person might employ it as an excuse but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this on a personal level is challenging. Unbearable.”
