Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with outcomes like these.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
