LA Explodes in Celebration as Dodgers Secure Back-to-Back World Series Championship
The City of Angels witnessed widespread celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Supporters across the globe united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the first time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Massive Turnout
Los Angeles area celebrations included a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Online footage depict thousands of Los Angeles residents flooding downtown streets, many carrying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to do this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The procession path concluded at the stadium, where the players emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist driving a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities started prior to the parade, with supporters lighting fireworks in the roads of the city center on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the MVP of the championship, commented directly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
However, Mark Walter was met with a cooler reception at the celebration. Recordings from the event seem to depict him taking the stage to a combination of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts punctuating his address.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An estimated quarter-million people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to team member one athlete, supporters this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” he remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
