Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
